About Numeriworks
Numeriworks is a specialized technical consultancy in Calgary, Alberta, helping teams solve difficult physical-system problems with simulation, controls, sensor systems, and intelligent algorithms.
Numeriworks was built to bridge the gap between research-grade methods and production systems. The focus is practical: clearer model behavior, stronger validation, and faster deployment decisions.

Maien Hamed, PhD
Founder and Principal
Maien Hamed founded Numeriworks to bring research-grade computational methods into systems that have to work outside the lab: simulation that informs design decisions, estimation and sensor fusion that hold up in the field, and machine learning that respects the physics of the problem.
Before Numeriworks, Maien worked on machine perception and machine learning at Meta, in the Reality Labs Research organization. That experience underpins Numeriworks’ multi-sensor capture and sensor integration work.
Maien holds a PhD from the University of Cape Town (Department of Mechanical Engineering, 2022). The doctoral research developed a finite-strain thermomechanical solver with frictional contact and an arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian formulation for simulating friction welding. It was built on the open-source deal.II finite element library and published in Computational Mechanics.
Earlier, at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, Maien completed an MEng in Mechatronics on vision-guided seam tracking for robotic arc welding (2011) and an MSc in Applied Mathematics on meshless methods with a GPU-accelerated implementation (2012).

Why Numeriworks
Most firms specialize in simulation, controls, or AI. Numeriworks integrates all three.
Problem focus
Projects start from the engineering bottleneck, not from a preferred tool or method.
Cross-domain depth
Experience spans robotics, aerospace, manufacturing, sensor systems, and large-scale ML systems.
Delivery discipline
Outputs are built for decision-making and implementation under real constraints, with acceptance tests agreed up front.
Working principles
First-principles modeling before optimization.
Physically grounded systems over black-box shortcuts.
Explainability for engineering decisions, not just metrics.
Hybrid analytical and ML methods when they improve reliability.
Technical rigor over hype.
No performance claim without a measurement behind it.
